VOIP

With the progressive anonymization business, the ability to talk to customers, conduct video conferences or generate automated voice announcements are important and make contact with the company “tangible.” Is VOIP more cost-effective than traditional telecommunications? We invite you to read more.

According to the UKE report, there was a very strong interest in VOIP services in 2018: the number of users increased by 59%. Along with the increase in the number of subscribers, the duration of outgoing calls increased by 28%. Users of virtual telephony are mostly large companies, although of course it’s a solution for smaller businesses as well.

What is VOIP?

VOIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) is Internet telephony, a technology that allows voice (and other options) to be transmitted over the Internet. The connection is made via IP protocol, without the use of traditional terrestrial transmitters. This technology will continue to grow because it offers more options than traditional telephony. VOIP is not just an alternative option, but an elaborate telecommunications system that is capable of supporting sales development in achieving goals and enabling the greatest possible service to customers in the shortest possible time.

However, there are still a lot of myths about VOIP.

Myths about VOIP

VOIP telephony has everything that landlines have: a number in any numbering zone, stable and good connections. And what myths are circulating around the service?

  1. Difficult and expensive to install despite low-cost use. The advantage of VOIP over landline and mobile telephony is definitely lower cost. As for the cost of installation, it will of course be higher if you buy the equipment: phones and a new PBX. However, there is no need to do so if you are thinking of a service for smaller companies, because VOIP can also work in the cloud or through a smartphone, computer or tablet, on which you install the software.
  2. Poor connection quality. This myth still dates back to the days when Internet connections were quite slow. However, this refers to the early days of the technology, i.e. around 2009. Today we have fiber-optic VOIP, the speed of which is hard to complain about.
  3. Inadequate sound quality and failures. In addition to a high-speed Internet connection, which provides efficient and trouble-free Internet telephony service, it is the sound quality that is a plus. These myths may be rooted in users’ habits. Meanwhile, VOIP technology allows users to enjoy a very stable communication solution, surpassing mobile and landline telephony.
  4. It’s only for big companies. We don’t need VOIP. The service is very flexible, as this type of telephony is available through cordless phones, office phones and through a smartphone using appropriate software (softphone), VOIP gateways, a computer with Internet access or a smartphone equipped with Android. Cordless phones and smartphones are used primarily by individuals and small offices. Office phones are best suited for companies, larger institutions, secretariats or call centers.

Trends in Poland, the European Union and the United States show that VOIP will coexist perfectly with mobile telephony, and in some time will dominate telecommunications services, displacing mobile telephony. Moreover, VOIP has a very useful IVR(Interactive Voice Response) service, which allows you to set up automatic voice announcements, including voice synthesizer. This can be done very quickly, and the customer will receive the notifications after dialing the company’s phone number. VOIP also has a hotline service.
