In today’s world, where we are still struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic, reality is unpredictable. What is certain is the development of digital technologies that enable companies to rapidly change their business models, transform the way they communicate and work. Which way will we go in 2021 and in the coming years in IT?
It can be considered that 2020 was a time of digital transformation. Government restrictions and social isolation have reinforced the trend of remote work. According to Gartner, IT is a lifesaver for companies these days. On the one hand, IT drives the development of technology and improves the business environment, and on the other, it allows optimizing operations.
What technology trends can be set for 2021?
According to the Gartner report, the top 9 IT trends are:
- Internet behavior.
- Scattered Cloud.
- Total experience.
- Cybersecurity.
- Flexible business.
- Work from any location.
- Artificial Intelligence Engineering.
- Privacy systems.
- Hyperautomation.
IT Trends 2021. the 9 biggest technology trends in 2021 according to Gartner, are:
- Internet behavior. Some workplaces have sensors that detect whether workers are disinfecting their hands. Computers also determine whether employees are wearing masks. The Internet of Behavior (IoB), is behavioral data collected and maintained to influence people’s behavior at work. Organizations continue to improve the rate of data acquisition and the ways in which it is combined and used. IoB is related to the impact of how organizations communicate with people. Another example of IoB use is in commercial vehicles, where driver behavior can be monitored and route performance and driver safety can be improved.
- Scattered cloud. According to Gartner, a distributed cloud is a space where services are delivered to different physical locations. The public cloud provider is responsible for its operation, management and development. This is an old trend, as the move of some applications and data to the public cloud has been observed for some time now. In 2021 and beyond, the distributed cloud will make it easier for organizations to physically converge services, thus eliminating data latency issues, reducing data costs and allowing them to operate in compliance with regulations mandating that they stay within a certain geographic area. Organizations will not have to manage their own private cloud.
- Total experience. At this point, the goal is to combine the experience and perspectives of the customer, employee and user in order to change business results. With this combination, you can gain an edge over your competitors, differentiate yourself from them, and increase the satisfaction and safety of everything related to the organization, i.e. provide a good experience in the fields of specific people and the technology area. An example? The company implemented an appointment system via an app, and when contractors were near the store, they got a notification to help them with the check-in process. In addition, they received information about how long it would take them to enter safely.
- Cybersecurity. It is a body of techniques, practices and processes that seek to protect information networks, devices from attacks or unauthorized access. The goal of the process is to define security in terms of the identity of a person or thing. This exercise will allow for a more focused perspective, organization of policies related to cyber security and enforcement. The approach to security will evolve to meet the requirements in specific companies.
We will describe more trends in the second part of the text.
