Obviously, a lot of time had to pass for the sector to develop to the extent it is in the present day. The telecommunications industry is now considered one of the economic sectors that is growing the fastest around the world.

Telecommunications, of course, is a branch of technology and science that deals with the transmission of information over a distance, using appropriate means of communication. What companies are at the forefront of the world’s largest telecommunications companies? What is the scope of their activities?
- Huawei- this Chinese telecommunications company has taken its place at the very top of the world’s largest telecommunications companies. It is a company known primarily for producing smartphones. Few people realize that Huawei is not only a manufacturer of electronics, but also produces telecommunications equipment – routers. The company was founded in 1987, and in 1997 it won the first tender outside China.
- Cisco Systems-also tops the list of the world’s largest telecommunications companies. It is an American company. It is primarily engaged in providing the market with IT solutions, as well as telecommunications products and services. This telecommunications company began operating in 1984. The headquarters of this company is located in San Jose, California. Its revenues amount to $51.56 billion, these are figures updated in 2022. In Poland, Cisco’s branch was established in 1995, and this took place in Warsaw.
- Nokia- a thriving and growing telecommunications company. It is a strong player in this sector. It was founded in 1865, and the country in which this occurred is Finland, so to this day Nokia’s headquarters are located in this country. Importantly-it was the cell phone released by Nokia that was the first portable phone! The profit of this telecommunications company in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to 583 million euros.
- Qualcomm-another major telecommunications company in the world. For many of us, however, the name is completely foreign and says nothing, it is different with Huawei or Nokia, everyone associates these companies by name. So where does this company come from? It is an American company, its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. The revenue of this telecommunications company in 2021 was $33.57 billion. It was founded in 1985. Does it operate in the Polish market? Yes, Samsung recently decided to sell phones in Poland with a better processor-this one from Qualcomm.
- AT&T-This telecommunications company is practically unknown in Poland. This is because it operates mainly in North America. Its founding took place in 1983 in Dallas, Texas United States. This company is worth mentioning, as it records very high revenues every year. In 2021, they amounted to $168.9 billion.
- ZTE Corporation- this company, like Huawei, is a Chinese player in this economic sector. What should it be primarily associated with? It is China’s largest in terms of the number of telecommunications equipment it produces, such as USB, routers and mobile hotspots. It was founded in 1985 in Shenzhen, with its headquarters located in that city. Its 2019 home revenue was CNY 5.49 billion.
