Quick Internet is a great value for users. Radio Internet has long been used for professional and private purposes. For some time now, Internet fiber optic. What are the differences between them?
Poland is increasingly developing access to high-speed Internet. According to CSO reports, as recently as 2010, 63% of households had access to broadband, and in 2018 it was already 84% of households. This number is steadily increasing.
Radio Internet
This type of Internet uses the action of radio waves. It is a radio network for Internet access or telecommunications infrastructure, based on wireless networks. The operation of the radio network is based on the 802.11 standard (the latest version 802.11ac), with a capacity of 1 Gbit/s and a single station of 500 Mbit/s. Devices complying with this standard operate at 5 GHz. For radio Internet to work, you need a transmitter in the vicinity of 10-20 km, an antenna and a router. A wireless router allows communication with the Internet, and more complex solutions use radio access stations.
Fiber optic internet
Fiber Internet is Fiber to the home (FTTH) technology, which is a network built with fiber-optic cables that deliver Internet straight to your home/business. FTTH is a broadband ICT service in which the provider connects directly to the home or business. The data transfer is carried out by means of a plastic-doped transparent fiber. There is no barrier to data transfer. Fiber-optic Internet speeds can reach up to 1,000 Mbps and are not affected by anything. FFTH makes it possible to use the Internet, telephony or television.
Comparison of FFTH and radio network
Radio Internet is a big chunk of telecommunications history, because this is how we used the Internet. It is still being developed, and the radio route allows access to the network and telephone. The radio network works well in small towns and villages because of its long range (greater than the LTE network). However, it is worth noting that it offers much lower data speeds. In addition, it is prone to interference in bad weather. You can’t use the radio network while traveling, that’s what LTE is for.
Fiber-optic Internet brings the greatest opportunities for growth: security, high-speed data transmission and immunity to interference make this type of Internet a natural choice. However, if you live in a smaller town, a radio network is a good option.
Fiber optics is a huge potential for development. In the future, Internet speeds will increase significantly.
